The Food and Drug Administration is amending the color additive regulations to provide for thesafe use of spirulina extract made from the dried biomass of the cyanobacteria Arthrospiraplatensis (A. platensis), as a color additive in candy and chewing gum. This action is in response toa petition filed by Mars, Inc. This rule is effective 13 September 2013.
